I Remember 9/11/01
I can remember exactly where I was when 9/11 happened. I was working at the Diabetes Center in Scarborough, Maine. One of the nurses was setting at her desk looking at the news via the internet and told us one of the Twin Towers had just been hit by a plane. When I looked at the news, the second plane flew into the other tower causing more death and destruction. At that moment the Lord spoke to me and said, "It’s not over yet!" Shortly thereafter, the news reported another plane had been taken over by terrorists and had crashed. Still, I knew there was more to come.
I was terrified. Shocked. In a total daze. I did not know what to do or who to call. I called my son, then my oldest granddaughter. I prayed. I cried. I did not know whether to sit down or to run. To work or go home.
I had been told not to talk about God, religion, or the bible when I was hired. However this day, the Practice Manager called the staff together and told us ministers had been called in to talk and pray with us, whatever we needed spiritually someone would be there for us.
When did America forget? When did we let our guard down and allow ourselves to slip so far from God? Even the new president has made mention that we were not a Christian nation.
When did we forget the many lives our service men and women have fought and died for our country?
When did we forget the blessings this nation has received from God just by being a ‘Blessed Nation’?
Why are we allowing the enemy to overpower this wonderful nation of ours? Why are we not standing up and fighting for our nation? When did we become so indifferent that we idly stand by and allow our country to be overcome with people who are care nothing about what this country stands for, ‘life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness. A country who depends on God?
One woman objected to prayer, reading the bible in the classroom making our schools what they are today, a place where there are drugs, alcohol, smoking, sex, and violence in our schools. Schools is the one place away from home our children should feel safe.
We need one person, just one person to stand up and say, "It’s enough! We’re taking our nation back."
Let’s take America back to being a God fearing nation. Let’s put prayer and reading the bible back in the classroom. Let’s keep, "In God we trust" as our motto and let us once again wave our flags proudly.
I am proud to be a Christian! I am proud to be an American! I still get teary eyed when I see an American flag waving in the wind and I swell up in pride, because I know I love God and my country.
Yes, I remember 9/11. I remember the day all nations pulled together in unity as one under God. I too remember how short lived that unity was and how America is now being torn apart by those who are power hungry and those who are money hungry and those who care nothing about our nation. This great country of the United States of America. I remember.
